Most AP automation tools capture header-level data from invoices: vendor, date, total. MakersHub goes deeper, pulling up to 39 fields per bill including line items, SKUs, project codes, and approval layers for small and mid-sized US firms whose clients in construction, manufacturing, industrial services, and wholesale have operationally complex bills. It targets the part of AP where simpler tools fall short: invoices that need item-level data capture, not just header-level OCR.

The defining technology is WiseVision, which captures up to 39 data fields per bill including line items, SKU, PO number, payment terms, and vendor metadata, and contextualises them against the customer's own coding history. Standard OCR captures header data. WiseVision captures the full bill structure and writes it back to the ledger as item-level data, not free-text descriptions.

Native job costing at bill ingestion is the second differentiator. Every bill is auto-tagged with project, phase, and cost-code, giving real-time project-level expense visibility. The other AP tools in the directory (BILL, Stampli, Tipalti, Melio) require coding in the ledger after the bill posts. For accounting firms running outsourced AP for project-based clients, that single difference can collapse hours of weekly cleanup work.

Integrations cover the US ledger stack: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Enterprise, Xero, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, plus Smart Data Connect for any other system via file or API. There is no native integration with Procore, Buildertrend, Sage 100 Contractor, or Foundation, despite the construction positioning. The construction angle works through line-item job-code tagging that flows into the underlying ledger, not through a direct PM-tool connector.

Pricing is tiered. Bills Starter at $99 per month covers 50 bills, 5 users, 20 payment credits, Smart Coding Rules, and AI line-item extraction. AP Scaling at $249 per month covers 150 bills, 15 users, 60 payment credits, plus the PO Matching Module and Advanced Integrations. Business Master is custom for high-volume mid-market and multi-entity setups. A 21-day free trial covers Starter and Scaling. No free tier.

MakersHub is US-primary. ACH and eCheck payment rails, US-only investor list (QED, TTV, Canapi, Saluda Grade), Austin TX HQ. UK, EU, AU, and NZ payment rails are not supported. Total raised is $11.5M across two seed rounds: $4.5M Seed I in March 2023, $7M Seed II in December 2024 (led by QED and TTV). The Accounting Partner program is published with CPE credits and a multi-client console; specific commission terms are not public, so direct outreach is required.
