Intuit Assist

The AI assistant built into QuickBooks Online.

Overview

Intuit Assist is not a product you buy. It is the AI layer Intuit has built into QuickBooks Online, so the right way to think about it is as a feature of QBO rather than a tool that stands alone.

Inside QuickBooks, it does the things a generative assistant is suited to: categorising transactions, reading data off receipts, drafting the reminder email for an overdue invoice, summarising where cash is heading, and answering questions about the numbers in plain language. The work still runs through QuickBooks; the assistant just removes some of the clicking and typing.

Because it sits across the Intuit ecosystem, it also reaches into TurboTax and Mailchimp, but the accounting use lives in QuickBooks Online.

There is no separate price. Intuit Assist is included with a QuickBooks Online subscription, which starts at around $20 a month for the entry tier, so the AI itself costs nothing extra. You cannot use it without a QBO subscription, and there is no standalone trial.

It currently rolls out to US QuickBooks Online customers. For anyone already on QBO, it is AI help with no extra signup; for anyone not on QuickBooks, it is not a reason on its own to switch.

Frequently asked questions

What is Intuit Assist?
Intuit Assist is the generative AI assistant built into QuickBooks Online. It categorises transactions, extracts data from receipts, drafts invoice reminders, summarises cash flow, matches transactions, and answers plain-language questions about the books. It works across the Intuit ecosystem, including TurboTax and Mailchimp, rather than as a standalone tool.
How much does Intuit Assist cost?
Intuit Assist adds no cost on top of a QuickBooks Online subscription. It is included with QBO plans, which themselves start at around $20 a month for the entry tier. There is no way to buy or use Intuit Assist on its own, and no separate trial, though QuickBooks Online offers its own 30-day trial.
Do I need QuickBooks to use Intuit Assist?
Yes. Intuit Assist is a feature inside QuickBooks Online, not a separate application. An active QBO subscription is required, and the assistant appears within the QuickBooks web and mobile apps rather than as its own login.
Who is Intuit Assist built for?
Existing and prospective QuickBooks Online users: small businesses, the firms that serve them, and accountants on QuickBooks Online Accountant. It is most useful for QBO users who want AI help with day-to-day bookkeeping without taking on a separate subscription. The rollout is US-first.
