Overview

Canopy covers the full back-office of an accounting firm in one system: client records, tasks, documents, time, billing, and client portal. Firms that currently run separate tools for each function find they can consolidate onto Canopy and cut the time spent moving between apps.

The workflow module handles templated job sequences for recurring services such as tax preparation, bookkeeping close, or payroll. Tasks move through stages, team members get clear assignments, and managers can see where every job stands across the firm without asking anyone for a status update. The Plus and Premium tiers add automated workflow triggers, capacity planning, and revenue reporting.

Where Canopy differs from most practice management platforms is the built-in AI layer. Client checklists can be generated automatically, emails are summarised on demand, and forms can be auto-filled from existing client data. These are included in the base Standard plan, not locked behind a higher tier.

The client portal supports secure document exchange and e-signatures. Canopy works with QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Zapier, Salesforce, Drake Tax, and Intuit ProConnect.

Pricing is billed annually: Standard at $74, Plus at $109, and Premium at $149 per user per year. A free trial is available. The platform is focused on the US market.
